Can anyone point an Internet marketing newbie in the right direction?

I am a total Internet marketing newbie and I feel extremely overwhelmed. I quit my job after I had my son 5 months ago and my husband just got his hours cut back at work, so we need the extra money. I have read in some forums that affiliate marketing can be a great work at home job that I can do part-time and make good money. So, can someone help this newbie out?

I am also a work at home mom, but I have to tell you that affiliate marketing is just not a job. A telemarketer is a job. Internet marketing is a business and you must work hard at your business to make it successful. A lot of people have the misconception that they can, through up a website, add some affiliate links to it and make some good income.

On the contrary, you have to work hard at promoting your site and getting traffic and sales. This is why it is called marketing. You have to market it and market it some more. I don’t want you to get the wrong idea about affiliate marketing and get discouraged after a month or two by not seeing any income come in (which will most likely happen).

When I first starting affiliate marketing from home 3 years ago, I was putting in about 9-10 hour days to get my sites started, do my research, and market my sites to death. I only started to see regular traffic and money come in after about 3-4 months and even then it was only a couple hundred dollars and I had about 5 sites up.

But, after about a year, I was making over $4500 a month and I was only working about 20 hours a week. In the beginning, you really have to work and then as you get your sites more established, you can set things to autopilot and work much less. Now I have 2 kids and make almost 6 figures a year and work about 20-25 hours a week when my kids are sleeping.

I have about 60 niche websites and I am in the process of making 5 more. The sites that are the oldest are the ones that make the most money, with a few exceptions. You will have sites that no matter what you do may just not see conversions or make you the money that you want no matter how much you put into them. On the other hand, you may have sites that do a lot better than you ever thought they would and you only put in a minimal amount of time on them.

I own a small business in Seal Beach, California and I want to hire a company to handle my Internet and online marketing. Can anyone recommend a decently priced company in or around Orange County? Where do I find reliable Internet marketing people in Kolkata?

I have a small business and a website now i want to market it through Internet. I have read little about SEO and PPC. I spoke to a few companies but they are charging beyond my capacity. Also i am not sure of their service. Can anyone suggest some good SEO consultant or affordable internet marketing company in India ( preferaly kolkata) ?

It is always difficult to find SEO for really small businesses because good SEO companies are very costly – the SEO consultants are no lesser. You can definitely find a lot of people claiming themselves as "SEO Experts" and would probably be ready to work for peanuts but in most cases these people would do more harm to your site than any good.

I worked with a guy in Kolkata who taught me some good SEO stuff, you can try contacting him. He is a professional SEO consultant and works for various big companies but do provide some free tips if you would request. Also his blog is well rated among SEO consultants in India and has good stuff that might be helpful. Check his blog http://seo-kolkata.blogspot.com and request for some tips or you can try to hire him ( not sure of affordability though) that might be of help.

there are many internet systems that can be purchased . however the important issue is to thoroughly research the products that you are interested in before investing.
ideally the preferred system should show full details of the products supplied to increase sales and assist you in maximizing your business.

How to make myself visibile in the Internet Marketing age?

Hey I want to dive into the internet marketing field. I know about blogs and what they are? But i dont know how to write good ones to get recognized. I mean what should i start blogging about? I mean should i stick to a particular area of interest or diversify myself. And also i need some few other tips about increasing my web presence. I know you people will be answering me for the the same reason. Please guide me to some valuable resource

1. Have a website, either a free blog or your own domain
2. Post at least twice a week in your blog targeted towards one business, whatever it may be. This allows your "website" to be updated regularly which is beneficial in Search Engine Optimization.
3. Most newbies tend to eagerly create a new blog and stop it after 2 months due to lack of sales. The key is consistency and laser targeted goal. Example: Promote only one affiliate product and post anything and everything around the same topic.
4. Simple ways to increase web presence would be to leave comments on other related blogs, having a social network in Facebook or post videos in YouTube which show your website address.

Oh boy, you’re probably going to get a bunch of people who are affiliates selling their stuff here in reply – not objective answers. I just want to give you an objective reply so that you can make a wise decision about all the things you’ll read about here and online.

There are three important facets to selling online:

Traffic generation – that is getting people who might be inclined to buy to your website. Lots of different ways to do that. Article sites. Google ads. Safelists – and on and on.

The site itself – needs to be set up in such a way that it’s navigation friendly, search engine friendly and looks professional for what you’ll be marketing.

The copy – must be written in an emotionally compelling way so that people say, "Wow – I want that!" and feel like they just gotta have it. Pictures alone don’t do it. Fancy bells and whistles don’t either. It’s about the copy. (That’s my expertise more than the technical pieces.)

Oh, and a fourth – the product and pricing must be something that’s quality and that people really want.

I don’t know of one product that provides all that – and I’ve attended a lot of fancy-schmancy Internet Marketing seminars over the years where they sell more of these programs. There are different programs for different facets of internet marketing.
